ALF Youth had another beautiful ALF Youth BBQ at our Tottenham Branch BBQ area the past Friday evening, the 13th of December 2024.
It was a wonderful evening with plenty of laughter, great food, and a chance to connect with others across different ages and life experiences with youth from the ages of 12 to 35. We even had some visits from those aged 7-11 who came to attend their weekly Islamic classes. They said the snags were the best!
The atmosphere was lively and full of positive energy with an amazing menu that included porterhouse steak, Maryland chicken, and sausages—all prepared and served by the youth volunteers, whose hard work and running around made the evening possible. Everyone ate, talked and ate some more before one member noticed a big smoke which turned out to be a fire in a nearby factory. One attendee even joked that the BBQ was so good and "lit" it caused a fire! For all the oldies, that is how a youth of 2024 says that the BBQ was great and fun!
After the BBQ, everyone gathered for our usual and ongoing Friday night Risale-i Nur session which has been going for over 20+ years. Over tea, we shared meaningful discussions about respecting and understanding elders, and what it means to be a youth who values those around them. The conversations were heartfelt and gave everyone something to reflect on.
A big thank you to everyone who joined and helped make the evening a success. Also, a big thank you to CCSP (The Social Policy Group Community & Cohesion Support Program) for funding the delicious BBQ. Nights like these show the importance of community and the joy of coming together. We can’t wait for more moments like this in the future!
